First let me tell you that it should be you and your conclusions which should govern your thoughts.
For one thing am very sure that this Oldie has missed in somewhere which he should have acquired from his experiences. "Behaving properly" and "what to say when" and "what to say" these things are not to be only followed with people elder than you , it should be followed with juniors as well.
So just don't care.
Just take it the way that this guy is motivating you for your next job change
