Hi Richie,
In VEA scene tree you can click with right mouse button and you can load f.e. a mp3 file with the voice recorded. In the step enter with right mouse click in properties and then in advanced tab. Here you have the drop list "media to play". You can select the mp3 and in this case when you active the step you have the mp3 reproduced in the step.
