I need the alert to be for all expenses (opex internal and cogs related). The problem statement is that line of business managers have costs posted to their cost center without approval or prior notice. The managers are required to provide offline forecasts each WEEK so they are very sensitive to Finance accountants just dropping costs into their P&L and having to spend effort to reconcile it out. They also need confirmation that approved costs have been posted in the current period - if not then they need to arrange accruals.
Rather than give them SAP accounts or look up scheduled report output, I was thinking to get an internet email sent to the cost center owners whenever a posting occurs over a certain value ( don't want them inundated with every posting event). Maybe I am being too nice for them.
As Sebastian pointed out earlier, it could be labor intensive to set up and maintain a budget and internal order structure for every cost center.
